MEDICAL CANNABIS: NITROGEN FERTILIZER

|

Written by Jim Hole, Atlas Growers VP of Cultivation.

‘Artemis Potsy’ the cannabis plant that is the star of CBC’s Radioactive show, is well on its way to producing another set of ‘true’ leaves and roots to the bottom of its pot. I’ve given Potsy a light application of high Nitrogen fertilizer to increase its vegetative (leafy growth). A greater number of leaves results in a greater conversion of light energy into sugars with the result being more vigorous growth.

At the seedling stage, nitrogen (the first number on fertilizer labels) is applied at about a quarter of the rate of a large plant. Too much fertilizer can result in leaf burn so it’s always better to err on the side of a bit less feed than too much feed.
